What would it be like if Volkswagen made a 4-door XL-1?
Yes, there’d be more drag because of a higher back end. To drop the cost, swap the carbon fiber parts for aluminum, use the engine from the Up!...
I’d gladly rock one as a daily driver/family hauler.

Maybe I’m weird but I immediately thought of a certain Citroen known for its ridiculously good drag coefficient

So...You basically just want an Aero Golf?
The point of the XL1 is that it is entirely about being as efficient as possible. Making a 4-door version from aluminum, while still extremely efficient, isn’t as cutting-edge.

I pined over the XL-1 when it was made public but it strikes me it’s been eclipsed by Tesla. Too bad VW didn’t prioritize adopting XL-1 tech in more accessible vehicles.

I know what you mean. It’s too bad it was also so crazy expensive.
